In mid-October, a Senior Officer Seminar (SOS) was organised for Marlow crew at the scenic Tambuli Beach Resort in Cebu, with 45 senior officers participating in the multi-day event.
This was the first time such a seminar was organised outside of Marlow’s head office in the Philippines, Manila.
The seminar provided a platform for officers to familiarise themselves with the latest company news and updates, policies, and ways to improve overall satisfaction of both-seafarers and shipowners. Interactive presentations covered a wide array of subjects crucial to operations, and looked at the involvement of the human factor in shipping, whilst always encourage lively and constructive discussions.
Chief Executive Officer, Operations, Captain Leo Tenorio opened the event with an inspiring message. Setting an upbeat tone for the forthcoming presentations, Marlow’s Crewing Director from head office in Cyprus, Captain Frank Brodersen provided valuable updates and insights into the company’s latest developments that paved the way for open and constructive dialogue.
Useful insights and experiences were exchanged on a wide array of vital topics in sessions conducted by local experts, including Director of Operations, Captain Rizaldo Madanlo, Marlow’s Company Representative Joost Mes, and instructor at partner training centre UMTC, Captain Jess Pascual.
At the same time, the seminar provided an excellent opportunity for officers to come together, share insights and experiences, and strengthen bonds. As always, each day ended with a casual social mixer in the evening, further improving connection and communication between sea and shore side colleagues. Meanwhile, it also presented an ideal occasion to recognise long serving seafarers, who receive their traditional Marlow anniversary watches as a token of appreciation.
The company reaching out to the many senior officers living in the province was highly appreciated. Next to the ongoing support rendered by branch offices in Cebu, Iloilo and Davao, bringing the seminars on location is another major step in providing services closer to our seafarers, as well as training and development.
Next stop Davao!
