This March, the coastal town of Sopot yet again played host to a vibrant gathering of senior officers, as Marlow Navigation Poland welcomed a total of 56 participants to two dynamic one-day seminars at Hotel Rezydent.
Bringing together Polish top 4 officers and Ukrainian colleagues currently residing in Poland, the seminars created a space not just for training, but for connection, conversation, and collaboration.
Marlow representatives from the Head Office in Cyprus, as well as teams from Ukraine and Poland, led thought-provoking presentations and steered interactive discussions throughout both days. The agenda dove deep into some of the most pressing topics in today’s seafaring world – from financial aspects in shipping and effective maritime resource management to impactful communication techniques and holistic crew well-being. Particular attention was given to health care, safety culture, leadership, and the nuances of media awareness within the maritime sphere.
Participants actively exchanged ideas on fostering diversity and inclusive onboard environments, handling customer complaints, promoting mental and physical wellness, and overall strengthening safety culture. The energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to continuous improvement and excellence at sea.
But it wasn’t all protocols, charts and checklists. Beyond the technical aspects, the seminars also encouraged open dialogue and networking, reinforcing the importance of genuine human interaction, camaraderie and trust among crew members.
An evening gathering wrapped up the events with warmth and laughter, providing our senior officers and shore-based staff the chance to socialise in a more relaxed atmosphere; to unwind, connect on a more personal level, and share experiences and stories beyond the bridge.
Now in its fifth edition in Poland, the Senior Officers’ Seminar has become a cornerstone of Marlow’s commitment to ongoing development and growth, providing an invaluable platform for professional development, knowledge sharing, and strengthening team bonds.
“By prioritising professional development and collaboration, we continue to support our seafarers and empower them to navigate challenges and ensure operational excellence at sea,” says Managing Director, Marlow Poland, Piotr Masny.
