Marlow proudly participated in Seatrade Maritime Crew Connect Global 2025 in Manila, the leading conference focused on the future of maritime crewing. The three-day event provided a platform for industry leaders to exchange insights, address challenges, and explore opportunities shaping seafaring today and tomorrow.
Discussions at the event covered a wide range of topics critical to the shipping industry and impact on crewing, including life at sea and seafarer well-being; training, skills development; digitalisation and AI applications in maritime operations; and sustainability, decarbonisation, and the broader energy transition.
At the heart of every conversation was one central theme: people – the driving force behind the industry.
“It has been great connecting and engaging with colleagues from across the global shipping community, exchanging ideas, and addressing the many challenges and opportunities in our industry. The event was insightful, valuable and inspiring,” reflected Chief Executive Officer, Marlow Navigation Philippines, Tony Galvez.
Marlow also extended its congratulations to Adopt-a-Ship International for winning the 2025 Industry Partner Award.
The Adopt-a-Ship programme offers children a unique opportunity to “adopt” a vessel and learn about life at sea, shipping operations, cargo, ports, and trading patterns. At the same time, they are encouraged to learn more about the world, including geography, science, global trade, cultural etiquettes, languages, marine life and protection of the marine environment.
Classrooms receive regular updates from selected Marlow officers, and participate in interactive learning exercises, including following ship voyages on world maps, creating pretend passports, and engaging in art and craft activities.
Initiated in 2006 by the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) and Cyprus Maritime Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA), Adopt-a-Ship has grown into a global initiative, benefiting tens of thousands of students worldwide.
“We are proud to continue supporting this meaningful educational initiative in the Philippines, helping raise awareness about the shipping industry while providing students with a real-world learning experience,” added Galvez.
Marlow thanks the organisers of Crew Connect Global, its partners, and all industry colleagues met during the event. Participation in such events strengthens Marlow’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of future maritime talent.
