Marlow Philippines Execom members and Managers from both Operations and Non-Operations recently took part in a three-day Crisis Management Training, held November 25-27.
The three batches were facilitated by Professor Ricardo “Ricky” de Vera, MBA, CSP, CMP, CDM, a Certified International Facilitator and renowned professor from AIM, Ateneo, and De La Salle University.
The program equipped leaders with essential skills to identify, assess, and manage risks and crises across operational settings. Prof. de Vera emphasised the realities of today’s Evolving Entropy-Driven Landscape, where leaders must navigate volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous situations with clarity and confidence.
Participants explored the fundamentals of risk and crisis management – from identifying threats and assessing impact, to prioritising risks and creating effective response strategies. The sessions also highlighted crisis types commonly encountered in the shipping industry and how leaders can strengthen preparedness and resilience.
A key segment focused on crisis communication, reinforcing the importance of timely, accurate, and empathetic messaging during disruptions. Leaders also learned how to develop a strong crisis conveyance plan to ensure alignment across teams and stakeholders.
The successful completion of the program strengthens our organisation’s commitment to proactive leadership development and operational excellence.
Continuous learning and development are essential to maintaining a highly-skilled, adaptable, and future-ready workforce. By investing in training and development, we strengthen our people, align teams with our values and organisational goals, and ensure consistency in operations and decision-making, ultimately enhancing service quality for clients, seafarers and all stakeholders alike.
