MENA Marlow Navigation recently celebrated its official inauguration and the opening of its new office premises in the Sultanate of Oman, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growing presence as a leading crew management company in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
In attendance were local staff, representatives from head office in Cyprus, and other key stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Labor, Oman Shipping Company, Asyad Group, Oman Union representatives, and the International Maritime College Oman (IMCO).
“This marks an exciting new chapter in Marlow’s journey,” said Jan Meyering, Joint Managing Director of Marlow Navigation, in his keynote address. “It’s a strong statement of our commitment to the MENA region and our goal in continuing to deliver world-class maritime services to a vibrant and fast-growing market.”
Meyering also expressed deep appreciation for the support that helped make this expansion a reality:
“We are grateful for the support of our local partners, managing director Qais Al-Zadjali, and the assistance of the Ministries in making this possible. We would also like to extend a special thanks to Asyad Group and Oman Shipping Company for their excellent cooperation over the past years. Their support has been crucial in establishing our presence in Oman, and I am confident that our relationship with them will continue to be strong and productive.”
MENA Marlow began operations in 2022, and due to rapid growth in its crew management operations, relocated to larger office premises in Muscat towards the end of last year.
“In addition to the opening of our new branch, we are particularly proud to provide employment opportunities to Omani seafarers, allowing them to advance their careers and contribute to the growth and development of the local maritime industry,” continued Meyering. “All of us in this room understand the critical role that seafarers play in the world economy, and we are proud to be a part of this important and dynamic community.”
The new Marlow office is also now facilitating a greater amount of crew training and seminars, with workstations and dedicated rooms, helping to foster the continuous learning and professional growth of local Omani, and regional talent. Training and development remain at the heart of Marlow’s vision, values and mission – investing in the education and skill-building of seafarers to ensure they are highly proficient and equipped to succeed in their careers and provide the best possible services to clients.
A detailed presentation on the Marlow Group was provided by Commercial Director, Christian Fuehrs during the ceremony, looking back at the history and milestones, profile, dedicated services, as well as key performance indicators and insights.
Marlow’s MENA presence was echoed by Managing Director, Al-Zadjali in his opening remarks during the inauguration:
“Oman has a proud and storied maritime tradition, and is one of the most significant transit hubs in the ancient world. We take great pride in being the first seafaring crew management company in the country,” he said. “Our expansion into this larger facility underscores our commitment here, and belief in the talent and potential of Omani seafarers, helping to build a strong, skilled, and competent maritime workforce for the local economy, as well as the wider region.”
