The new office in Chennai will strengthen Marlow’s global service portfolio, supporting the group’s growing needs for all maritime related services, while also bolstering its commitment to innovation through its suite of advanced digital solutions for the industry.
Working in close collaboration with core teams at group headquarters in Cyprus, the Chennai office will help strengthen engagement across maritime activities, including recruitment, planning, and seafarer support.
Additionally, the new office will serve as a key hub for accelerating Marlow’s software development initiatives. By tapping into Chennai’s rich talent pool and technology ecosystem, the company plans to drive forward its bespoke digital solutions for the maritime sector. This includes enhancing tailor-made crew recruitment and management software, as well as expanding digital portals and applications designed for both seafarers and clients.
“The pace of change and new possibilities across the digital landscape are tremendous and already benefiting our operations,” said Marlow Navigation’s Joint Managing Director, Jan Meyering, during the inauguration. “Recognising this potential, we embarked on a major transformation, redesigning our tailor-made management software and introducing new digital tools. We warmly welcome the team here in Chennai, who will be instrumental in advancing both our digital growth, and our operational excellence in this part of the world.”
In recent years, Marlow has significantly grown its software development team, rolling out innovative solutions, such as the CrewCompanion App and Web portals for seafarers, a new advanced admin platform for senior officers, a comprehensive client portal, and upgraded back-office systems for crewing, accounting, agency services, and seafarer training. The new Chennai team will complement these efforts.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent industry figures, including Dr J Ramachandran, Founder and Chancellor of AMET University; Captain Thyagrajan, General Manager of India’s State-owned Shipping Company Poompuhar Shipping; and Captain Sivaraman Krishnamurthi, Founder and CEO of TrimSail Digital Solutions.
Representing Marlow from the global headquarters were Joint Managing Director Jan Meyering; Software Development Manager Savvas Constantinides; Product Lead Andreas Dorotheou; and Back-End Engineer Lead Andreas Kafkalias. Also present were Marlow India’s Managing Director in Mumbai, Wilson Mascarenhas, along with Accounts Manager Rajendra Kanitkar and IT Admin Pramod Fage.
This latest expansion underscores Marlow’s vision and commitment to integrating robust operational engagement with forward-looking digital development strategies. By establishing a strong base in Chennai – a leading centre for both shipping and technology innovation – Marlow is not only enhancing its crew and ship management operations, but also cementing its position at the forefront of digital transformation in maritime services worldwide.
