The PDB programme for 2021 is now available as self-study online via the Crew Portal or Webinar for crew preparing for their next assignment. As always, the PDB provides engaging content, such as presentations and videos, as well as real case studies, all tailored for the realities of 2021.

Staying healthy at sea video presentation, now available on the 2021 PDB

The new edition of the Marlow Pre Departure Briefing (PDB) has been released and is available online via the Crew Portal or Webinar for crew preparing for their next assignment.

Agency visits have been reduced to only to what is necessary. Fortunately, we have several online platforms which allow you to access information from the safety of your home during pre-joining self-isolation or during your assignment. The presentation Online Resources for Seafarers describes what information is accessible, how to login and who to contact in case of issues. To use these online resources, it is vital that we have your active email address in our records!

Crew changes are now possible, even if still logistically very challenging. It is extremely vital that our policies and procedures are strictly followed to ensure a safe and successful exchange of crew, as per the documentation in the video “Preparing for your Assignment during the Pandemic”. Please always bear in mind that these rules are in place not only to facilitate the crew change, but to protect your health, and that of your crew mates and other passengers during your travels.

Of course, being able to send crew home is one issue. Promoting the physical and mental health of crew presently serving on board, especially during these exceptional times is another. To further address this, we’ve added a presentation with general guidance on COVID safety, and a video with suggestions and guidance for improving both physical and mental health whilst at sea.

Since social gatherings are restricted, using technology to stay in touch has never been so important. We therefore took this opportunity to also remind you about the chat feature in our CrewCompanion App.

Like with previous PDB versions, we’ve documented and analysed recent case studies from the fleet that cover a wide variety of topics. All cases are summarised with points designed to help prevent future similar incidents. For your own safety and the safety of your crew mates, which urge you to give these cases your full attention.

We hope you find this year’s PDB interesting and most importantly useful. As always, any feedback and suggestions are welcomed. Write to us at pdb@marlowgroup.com
