On the 23rd and 24th of May 2016, the technical management departments of Marlow Navigation Cyprus and Marlow Ship Management Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG held a technical seminar in Kaliningrad, Russia with the theme ‘Environmental Training’.
Over 20 management level officers from Marlow’s full management fleet attended the event, together with staff from Cyprus, Germany, St Petersburg and Kaliningrad. An invited speaker from MAN-Holeby 4 stroke department also attended and gave technical presentations.
Topics included the new environmental training programme, how to maintain your vessel properly, commercial awareness and protection of the Owner’s position, the importance of good ship-shore communication, 4-stroke generator maintenance, new regulations, crew appraisal processes, navigational safety and ship performance and efficiency monitoring. The Officers also took part in group workshops to solve problems and find solutions to ‘case study’ incidents in the full management fleet.
This was the first full management seminar to be held in Russia. It was well organised by Marlow Kaliningrad and was a tremendous success.
On the last evening of the seminar, a gala dinner was held at a famous local restaurant where the participants could relax and enjoy a lovely summer evening in the city.
We look forward to more such events in 2016 and beyond.
