Marlow Philippines supports local schools with various assistances to help maintain learning programs for children during the Covid restrictions.

Donation of prepaid load cards to help students continue studies online during Covid pandemic

Earlier during the 2020 summer, Marlow Philippines pitched in and provided some support to local schools who put out a call.

Schools were in need of various material and equipment to help prepare their learning modules for the students whilst under the ‘new normal’ brought about by the Covid pandemic.

Some of the assistance provided by our company included reams of bond paper for CAA Elementary School and a photocopier and printer for Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School in Manila, which is nearby to the Marlow office.

Later, another donation of prepaid load (for calling, SMS texting and mobile Internet) was made to Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School. This was to help students with their distance/online learning, since not all students can afford to sustain the mobile data needed to continue their studies.

This follows an initiative from the Department of Education (DepEd) to launch DepEd Commons, an online platform for public school teachers to support distance learning modalities. “As a teacher, I can say that it is a huge help to children, especially those who are in home quarantine. I can say that this is the best way to continue their learnings even without their teachers. They are already enjoying, still learning,” said teacher Alleluia Romero of Indang Central Elementary School in Cavite in a statement posted on the department’s website.

The Covid pandemic changed much in our society in 2020 – of course we all hope only for the very short term. Coming together as a community and helping each other where possible during such times does make a difference and helps us overcome at least some of the difficulties. For the children, having the support to continue their education from home was no doubt crucial.
