Due to popular demand, Marlow launched a new wave of the Adopt-a-Ship program for school children in the Philippines in 2019, with the motto “Connecting our World”.

Two schools in the Philippines have thus far participated in the Adopt-a-Ship program, including CAA Elementary School and Moonwalk Elementary School, with over 2,500 pupils from various grades and 30 Marlow full managed vessels being involved.

Adopt-a-Ship is an excellent initiative. Through this program, children build a relationship with a vessel and learn more about shipping/maritime, such as life on-board, daily duties and activities of the crew, cargo normally carried, ports being called, trading patterns, and other information the children might request.

At the same time, they are encouraged to learn more about the world, including geography, science, marine life and protection of the marine environment.

Closing ceremonies took place recently, where teachers were provided with certificates to acknowledge their participation and students presented Marlow with some amazing artwork and thank you cards inspired by their learning to send to the ships that participated.

Further to this, Marlow donated computers and IT supplies to both schools to help with this program, as well as to assist in general education. No doubt, it is important to keep our children well-educated and up-to-date with technology and more.

Marlow Philippines was also later recognised by the City of Las Piñas for contribution to the improvement of schools and supporting local communities. Chief Executive Officer, Administration Tony Galvaz received the “Gawad Suhay ng Pag-asa” on behalf of the company.
