Marlow Navigation Celebrates World Maritime Day and Week of the Sea

Marlow Navigation, in cooperation with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) celebrates World Maritime Day and Week of the Sea.

Established by IMO, World Maritime Day is celebrated every year during the last week of September. Its aim is to promote the significance of shipping, maritime safety and the marine environment.

The theme of this year's World Maritime Day is entitled – Shipping: Indispensable to the World. Indeed, Shipping is indispensable to the world and remains an important factor in the global supply chain, allowing the wheels of the global economy to function and progress.

In turn, a number of activities and events will be organised during Week of the Sea from 23 September to 1 October 2016, with the theme Shipping is not only about ships. The overall aim is to promote shipping and raise public awareness about the importance of our seas.

All are encouraged to join in on these international and local events to help promote them to the wider public. Marlow around the world also joins in on the celebrations together with local organisations, including in Ukraine, Germany, the Netherlands, and in the Philippines.
