As part of our commitment to seafarer safety and well-being, the 11th annual Pre-Departure Briefing (PDB) for crew is now live and can be accessed online!

Marlow Pre-Departure Briefing for Crew, edition 2024

In this PDB we present real case studies from our fleet, each summarised with key points to help prevent similar incidents in the future. Various topics including training program updates, upcoming rules and regulations and port state control results can all be found in the 2024 PDB.

In PDB-03-001, we offer a brief video on maintaining physical and mental health while on board. This complements the courses and resources available in our training matrix and vessel portal library, contributing to a safer and healthier assignment.

PDB-03-002 addresses the crucial issue of bullying on ships. The presentation highlights the negative impact on seafarers’ health and safety, providing practical guidance on recognising, preventing, and reporting bullying behaviour. We advocate for zero tolerance towards bullying, aiming to create a safe and respectful workplace environment.

Moving on to PDB-04-00, we summarise the Marlow Vessel Portal and CrewCompanion App, outlining their contents, usage, and registration process. We highly recommend downloading and registering for the app, believing it will be beneficial throughout your assignment.

In PDB-04-001, we shed light on Marlow’s vessel circulars, emphasising their role in addressing crew-related issues and reducing incidents. The presentation details key circulars, their distribution, and accessibility through the Marlow Vessel Portal. This presentation highlights specific important circulars, such as those related to shipboard forms, holidays, disciplinary procedures, ITF inspections, handover instructions, crew change notifications, drug and alcohol policy, medical assistance, electronic signatures, open reporting policy, lashing hours records, contract extensions, and MLC inspection checklist, and encourages you to contact your Crew Superintendent or Manning agency for any queries.
