The covered gymnasium initiative first came to light after long-time Marlow seafarer and graduate from the school, Captain Noel Uy saw the children were in need of such covered facility. Together with other school alumni, Marlow Navigation stepped in and supported the construction of the project.
The gymnasium will provide students with a covered facility for outdoor school activities, sports and general events, as well as serve as an evacuation centre in case of typhoons. It will also be used by other primary and secondary schools in the vicinity.
The recent hand-over ceremony was attended Chief Executive Officer, Operations, Captain Leo Tenorio and Mayor Susano Antonio D. Ruperto III, who officially inaugurated the new facility.
“Together with all the benevolent donors, Marlow Navigation is very proud to support such meaningful efforts, symbolising a shared dedication towards the development of our youth and communities. We look forward to seeing the children and community benefit from this new facility,” said Captain Tenorio.
The ceremony was also attended by the Public Schools Divisions Supervisor, Dra. Emelyn D. Bolongaita, and the school’s Principal and faculties. Marlow’s Captain Noel Uy was also present at the inauguration.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our gratitude to all those involved in making this project a reality. It is our sincere hope that the new gymnasium will serve as a hub for physical activity, personal development and growth, as well as community engagement for generations to come,” stated Chief Executive Officer, Administration, Tony Galvez.
