The technical management departments of Marlow Navigation Co. Ltd. (Cyprus) and Marlow Ship Management Deutschland (MSD in Germany) held a joint full management seminar on May 30 – June 1 in Manila at the offices of Marlow Philippines.
Presentations were provided by Operations Manager, Marlow Navigation, Graham Cowling, Managing Director, MSD, Frank Homann, and Manager Agency Department, Marcrew, Marc Benkmann, as well as from invited speaker MAN-Holeby 4 stroke department, Klaus Petersen. Meanwhile, UMTC Instructor, Captain Jess Pascual gave a presentation on Master-Pilot relations and teambuilding.
The seminar was attended by 18 mainly management level officers from the Philippines and from Marlow Vladivostok, Russia, all of who serve on Marlow’s full management fleet.
The three-day event covered topics including Pilot On-Board Teamwork, Fuel Handling, Fuel Saving on board, Crew Appraisal Systems, the Environmental training program, discussions on current market conditions, communication between ship and shore, recent safety incidents, as well as new regulations coming into force. The Officers also took part in group workshops to solve problems and find solutions to ‘case study’ incidents in the full management fleet.
On the last evening of the seminar, a rooftop social event took place, with singing, games and a delicious cocktail dinner.
We look forward to more such seminars in technical management throughout Marlow's global agency network.
