Marlow Philippines celebrates International Day of the Seafarer 2017 across the country to pay respect to all seafarers around the world.

Following yearly tradition, Marlow Philippines, seafarers and shore staff, gathered to celebrate International Maritime Organization (IMO) Day of the Seafarer 2017, in Manila, Cebu, Davao and Iloilo.

Around 90% of world trade is carried by the international shipping industry. Without shipping, the import & export of goods & all sorts of cargo on the scale necessary for the modern world would not be possible.

Thus, huge RESPECT & THANKS goes out to all the seafarers at Marlow Navigation and indeed around the world who make this happen, operating ships well, safely and assuring a prosperous voyage.

Each year, 25 June marks the annual Day of the Seafarer (DotS). DotS was established in a resolution adopted by the 2010 Diplomatic Conference in Manila to adopt the revised STCW Convention. Its stated purpose is to recognise the unique contribution made by seafarers from all over the world to international seaborne trade, the world economy and civil society as a whole.

The resolution "encourages Governments, shipping organisations, companies, shipowners, ship and crew managers, and all other parties concerned to duly and appropriately promote the Day of the Seafarer and take action to celebrate it meaningfully". This year the theme was "Seafarers Matter".

In addition to the celebrations, Marlow Navigation Phil. Inc. has again paid tribute by sharing something to our seafarers. Chief Executive Office, Operations, Captain Leo Tenorio, together with his team greeted seafarers by saying thanks and giving meals and refreshment. Through this simple gesture, expressing the company’s gratitude to the hard working seafarers and showing them just how much they matter.
